"WINE AND HEALTH"

WHAT IS WINE?

Wine is an agricultural food product obtained by full or partial alcoholic fermentation of mash or must produced from grapes of the noble grapevine - Vitis Vinifera. Good wine is the product of the joint, careful, intelligent work of the winegrower and the winemaker. Wine is born in the vineyard, nurtured and matured in the cellar. In terms of quality, good wine can be table, quality or premium. First of all, it depends on the offer of nature and only then on the set goal of the grower. Regardless of the quality classification, the wine must have an appropriate, beautiful appearance, a reasonably good smell, taste and harmony. The natural conditions here in Slovenia are ideal for the production of wines of a wide variety of quality, types, varieties and styles.

WINE IS MORE THAN A BEVERAGE

Many people think and talk about wine as a drink that goes well with a certain occasion, i.e. with a meal, a snack or a celebration. But some people think that wine is dangerous because it contains alcohol, for individuals wine is even taboo. The chemical composition of wine is very diverse and rich. It depends on the natural conditions, the cultivation of grapes, the grape variety and processing technology, as well as on the care and storage of the wine. There are not only alcohols, acids and sugars in wine, but more than a thousand other ingredients that enrich this extraordinary drink. However, most of the water in wine is from 75 to 85%, alcohol from 8.5 to 15 vol.%, total acids from 4.5 to 8 g/l, wine has a low pH (2.9 to 3.8 ), sugars can be from 1 to 50 g/l and more, and in small quantities the wine also contains minerals, aldehydes, esters, nitrogenous substances, phenolic substances, the most important of which is resveratrol, as well as aromatic substances, vitamins, etc. Many times the cause of excessive consumption of wine and its consequences are precisely the lack of wine culture, self-discipline, education, both in the family and at school. In wine-producing countries, wine is a person's companion from birth to death. Therefore, every individual should be educated and informed in detail about the good and also harmful effects of wine on the human organism and living environment.

WINE AND HEALTH

Wine is a drink that has always been considered a companion of man and his health. It has been attributed healing powers since biblical times. Hippocrates, Pasteur, Plutarch and other giants of mankind appreciate wine as a means that strengthens the body and soul and at the same time awakens our emotions. Wine has always been a very important "accelerator" of human progress. Among the great minds of mankind there were few abstinents. They even claim that wine helps sharpen the mind. History notes that culture developed faster where man cultivated vines. Even today, doctors recommend a glass or two a day. According to dr. For Petar Kapš, a doctor and writer of books on wine and health, wine was considered an integral part of good food and an indispensable part of the best meals. Moderate consumption of wine increases joy and good-naturedness, drives away worries and makes life easier and more comfortable. It gives strength and confidence to the healthy, and medicine and refreshment to the sick. Wine is a real serum, the oldest of all, the most exquisite in its composition and the most reliable in its effects. Like all alcoholic beverages, wine is a solution of ethyl alcohol and other substances, in this respect it does not differ from other alcoholic beverages. But it is becoming more and more obvious that wine is different from beer and brandy and is healthier than both for many reasons. "If we hindered the drinking of wine, many would seek pleasure and intoxication in spirits and other drugs, but not in wine, which is the least harmful to health of all". This is what Dr. wrote about wine. Excitability Submissive. Today, wine with its composition is regaining its status as the healthiest and most hygienic drink, as the great Louis Pasteur already wrote. Wine incorporated in an appropriate amount into a meal contributes to a better quality of life for each individual. If we were to weigh the positive and negative effects that wine can have, the tab would tip in the positive direction. Let's take a look at the positive effects of wine on the human body:

  • has a beneficial effect on digestion,

  • acts as an antiseptic - protects against infection,

  • has a beneficial effect on blood vessels and has a preventive effect on arteriosclerosis and heart attack,

  • reduces the risk of cancer,

  • has a beneficial effect on well-being and mood,

  • eliminates fatigue.

INSTEAD OF CONCLUSION

Ancient peoples in ancient times realized that wine is a drink that belongs among foods. In many countries, a glass of wine belongs to everyday lunch, dinner or dinner, and it is the same here. If people consume wine in moderation, there is nothing to fear. Temperance is one of the four human virtues. Along with her are wisdom, justice and kindness. These virtues are closely related: if a person does not have one, he does not have any. Moderation, of course, does not only refer to the consumption of wine, but to the entire human experience and conduct. Stay healthy during these difficult days and treat yourself to a glass of wine, for health!
